Mike  Ungerman

Mike Ungerman

Biography

Social Networking for Computer User Groups

Remember the good old days of Bulletin Board Systems (BBS's)? Mike thinks computer user groups have gotten away from the interactive communication that they provided when we all went to web sites with little or no interactive content.

Facebook and MySpace may have gotten the jump on us, but those networks come with some risk that many individuals aren't willing to take, even if a User Group sets up a site in their network and makes access to their data private.

A new service, Ning.com, has come up with a free social networking application that establishes individual social networks for any group. Then can be 100% private.

Mike Ungerman, with the assistance of Hewie Poplock, will show you how the Central Florida Computer Society has implemented a Ning social network for their Windows Special Interest Group. He'll show you the features of the overall Ning system, and then demonstrate the use of their site: http://winsig.ning.com
